Select some of the UVs for the upper leg connector.

With the UVs selected, choose Modify ➤ Unfold. The shells could slightly shift depending on if any seam stitching distorted and warped the shells in the process.

The shells have been reflattened according to the new UV shell’s layout.

Lastly, optimizing the mesh also refers to removing any unneeded geometry. These include faces that are not visible or are embedded in another mesh part. Their UV shells take up unnecessary space within UV space.

Follow these steps for the upper leg connector:1.

In the View Panel, right-click mech_l_femur and go to Face Mode.
